New Patients
We care for keiki from newborn through age 21, and we’re taking new patients now.
Choosing your child’s doctor is a big decision.
You deserve to get it right, even if right for your family turns out to be another practice. So take an honest look at who we are, and trust your gut.
Expecting? The easiest first step is a virtual prenatal meet-and-greet.
What You’re Tired Of
You’ve had the 15-minute visit where the doctor barely looked up from their screen. You walked out unheard, no clearer than when you came in. You’ve called at 4:55 and gotten voicemail instead of an answer, hanging up still worried.
You’re not wrong for wanting better. We built this practice for parents who do.
The Honest Part:
Who We Are, and Who We’re Not For
We’d rather tell you now than have you find out after you’ve switched. Here’s where we’re firm.
We’re a Vaccinating Practice
We follow the immunization schedule recommended by the American Academy of Pediatrics, and we require every family to do the same. We don’t delay or space out vaccines. If that’s a dealbreaker for your family, we’re not the right practice for you, and that’s okay.
We use antibiotics carefully, not automatically.
We don’t hand out antibiotics for every ear pain or green runny nose, and we won’t call them in over the phone, because that’s not the safest or most effective care. We follow the evidence and we take the time to explain when antibiotics are needed. If what you want is a quick prescription on demand, we’ll frustrate you, and we’d rather say so now.
We’re your child’s medical home.
We ask you to come to us first, before a specialist or urgent care, so the whole picture stays in one place instead of scattered across clinics that don’t talk to each other. We can often see your child the same day, or point you to the right place. If you’d rather manage care your own way and loop us in afterward, we’re probably not your fit.
We care for the whole child, which means we ask about more than symptoms.
We pay attention across mind, body, spirit, family, and community, so we’ll ask about school, friendships, stress, sleep, and how home is going. We’re not being nosy. We need the full picture to care for your child well, and it helps to know that going in.
We’re a team, not a single solo doctor.
You’ll build a relationship with your primary provider, and you’ll also get to know the rest of our team, so you get the same Keānuenue care whoever you see when your provider’s out. If your heart’s set on only ever seeing one single doctor, we’re built differently, and we want you to know that going in.
How Care Works Everyday
- We see patients by appointment only, even for same-day needs, and we save spots each day for sick visits. No walk-in hours.
- During office hours you’ll reach our team by phone or secure text. After hours if you need help urgently, a pediatric team is available by phone or video visit to help you decide what to do next.
- We keep things simple with secure messaging and a patient portal, less paperwork, less phone tag.
- We accept most commercial and Medicaid plans, and we’re happy to work with families paying out of pocket.
- Full office policies, the complete insurance list, and after-hours details live on our Policies & Forms page.
Meet us before your baby arrives.
You don’t have to wait until your baby’s here to find their doctor. Sign up for a virtual prenatal meet-and-greet. Bring every question, the ones you think are silly too. You’ll know if we’re the right fit and get lots of useful tips before the big day.
Having a Baby?
Congratulations, we’re so happy for you. Here’s how to get ready for your baby’s arrival:
- Review our practice policies and complete the Newborn Registration Form.
- Wherever you deliver, Kapiʻolani, Queens, Castle, Kaiser, or Tripler, your baby’s cared for in the hospital by their in-house pediatric team. They check on you both daily, support your feeding, and help you get ready for those first days home.
- If you choose circumcision for your son, the hospital pediatrician can do it before you leave.
- Before you head home, call or text us to schedule your baby’s first visit, usually two days after discharge. We can’t wait to welcome you into our ʻohana.
Home Births
If you’re planning a home birth, please contact us within 24 hours of your baby’s delivery to schedule the first newborn visit. Before we see your baby, we’ll need a complete set of delivery and aftercare records from your birth provider.
Sometimes, your midwife may offer newborn follow-up care through the first month. However, we recommend establishing care with us early so we can get to know your baby and family from the very beginning.
If you have any questions about our home birth policies or how to register your newborn, please call or text our office. We’re happy to help.

Ready when you are.
Meet us before your baby arrives, or start your registration any time.
New here, or ready for a change?
Families come to us at every age, for all kinds of reasons. A move across the ocean, a military transfer, a beloved pediatrician retiring, or a practice that never quite fit. Whatever brings you here, you don’t need it all figured out, because we’re here to help. Bring the whole crew. We care for keiki from newborn through 21.
How to transfer
We’ll make the process as easy for you as we can. First, register here. Then we’ll request your child’s records so we understand their history. Best of all, we’ll set up a first visit so we can get to know each other. If you’re switching more than one child, we’ll handle it all together.
Not sure yet? You can schedule a virtual meet-and-greet with one of our providers to learn about our practice first.
Bringing an older kid or teen?
The teen years are one long gray area, and switching practices in the middle of them can feel like one more thing. It’s not. We welcome older kids and teens into our ʻohana, we take their reasoning seriously, and starting at 13 they can share some things with us in confidence. Read more about the teen years.
What Families Say
“I'm a first time mom, and was guilty of not finding a pediatrician ahead of time. I found Keanuenue from a Google search a few weeks before delivery and thought 'well if it doesn't go well, I'll look for another doctor'. We've now completed our newborn and two week old check up and I'm super confident that we'll be sticking with Keanuenue.”
