Xavier

Medical Assistant

Aloha! My name is Xavier Ortiz, and I am so excited to be one of your MAs! I am currently a 3rd-year Molecular & Cell Biology (B.S.) student at the University of Hawai‘i at Mānoa. I come from a military family, so I’ve called many places home, but Hawai‘i has always been my true home.

Just before I turned 14, I was diagnosed with blood cancer (T-ALL). Since this event, I have dedicated my education and career towards the aspiration of becoming a pediatric oncologist. Working in pediatrics is a passion of mine, forged through the trials of my past, and each day I strive to make a meaningful impact in the field.

During the times when I’m not working or studying, I enjoy driving my car and playing video games. Cars have always been an interest of mine, and I hope to own a garage full of my favorites! However, it’s an expensive dream… so that will have to wait a few more decades.

I’m extremely excited to get to know you all! Mahalo nui loa!
